Hackett Presents - 1948 Sportswear

Looking back to the halcyon days when London last played host to the internationally renowned games, Hackett London’s 1948 collection draws on the original sporting kit and reinvents the style to put it in a new, modern context. Using a very British regimental palette of red, navy and antique white, the story is a modern take on classic sporting life which sees the Union Jack flag feature in various guises, from jacket linings to breast pocket logos. Embracing a gentleman’s approach to sportswear, Hackett reinforces its partnership with the London Rowing Club and the iconic Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race with blazers embellished with embroidered crests highlighting that the 1948 collection has been inspired as much by the style of the original spectators as it has by the sportsmen participating.

Funny T Shirts With Slogans

The humble t-shirt has come a long way over the years, and is still going strong today. They are so versatile, and are usually worn as a casual garment, but can be made to look smarter with a jacket or cardigan. Slogan t-shirts are very popular at the moment. They are utilized by many people and businesses to get their message across. They can sport a phrase, graphic or design which can be very powerful and memorable. Many celebrities wear these kinds of tees; some even invent their own, printing a trademark slogan on the front of the shirt to get some media attention. Some of these t shirts are designed to be funny. They are tongue in cheek humour, and are usually written with bright bold text to make maximum impact. Check out some of these t shirts. The slogans which they have are suitable for both men and women, and they are quite funny.

oki-ni: STYLED ¦ Night Birds

Situated on London's North Circular, Ace Café has been a mecca for petrolheads since its doors opened in 1938. A place to talk mechanics, listen to rockabilly, and drink a beer, the café has reverberated with the sound of revving engines for over a generation. Today, whether you're riding a Harley or a scooter, Ace Café is the place to go. It could be your point of origin for a long road trip, or a place to refuel after a long night ride. Blending in with this iconic setting, our STYLED brings together a mixture of mod and rocker influences, as rugged denim pieces meet more tailored shirting and outerwear. Like some of the patrons of Ace Café today, the looks are more eclectic and less tribal, while still having an element of the rebellious spirit that defined the 50s.

Far from a stuffy and antiquated style of dress, modern tailoring is an adventure playground of crisp shapes and slick silhouettes for you to have fun with. By all means go down the traditional route, or perhaps pair a sharp blazer with a bold print shirt, high tops, and sweat pants – in the world of modern tailoring, you're the boss.

Style Conundrum: Men's Floral Print Polo Shirts

Floral prints are bang on trend and probably the most effeminate kind of prints and as a gentleman you might wonder, how do i pull this off without looking like a girl boy.  The easiest floral prints to wear are polos as they are inherently sporty and add some sort of formality and masculinity to the look. There are certain steps that need to be taken to add some swag used here for effect to your look and they are:-  (See Them After The Jump)

Details: James Long Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

Quilting, Shear-ling, Bedazzling were executed to perfection and as i sit here writing on my desk with a little back ache no thanks to studying for a grad degree i still remember the James Long aw12 show as the models walked passed glittering. James Long was pushing all my buttons as he sent model after model out in either a embellished collared shirt, quilted jacket or thick worsted luxe wool jumper. I'm def going on a baked beans diet to save for most of the pieces in this collection, especially the shirts and gold threaded cardi's. By far my favorites menswear collection from the just concluded #LFW. More detail shots after the jump.

Coming Soon: Interview with London Based Model Omari Lewis Dixon

Continuing with my model interview series, an interview with 17 year old fast rising model Omari Lewis Dixon would be coming up in a few days. Stay tuned.

In Lust: G Star Core II Spectrum Hi-Top Trainers

Not a big fan of all white sneakers even though i got the freshest pair (Nike Blazers High) but there's something about these cool Gstar Core II spectrum sneakers that has got me considering purchase. Might have been a lot easier for me to sleep tonight if i did not go on Asos like a shopaholic that i am and browse through the shoes section. But at £80 it seems like a good investment...would just think about it a couple more days and make a decision. Close up shots after the jump.

Details: Lou Dalton AW12 Collection

Lou Dalton's AW12 collection was largely influenced by the military and British tailoring. She used Air-force hats to as headgear which helped project the military aesthetic more. The silhouettes were well structured akin to military garb and the details like quilting and curved double b blazer hems depicted the British tailoring aesthetic. A very well rounded collection from the label. More close up shots after the jump.

Marni for H&M Menswear to Hit Stores March 8th

I'm gonna be away in Africa lmao at Africa, Lagos, Nigeria actually when the Marni for H&M collection drops but i'd be back on the 13th so i hope that is good enough to snap up some of these pieces before them Ebay hunters clear everything. Although i think Marni was quite stingy on their graphic prints for this collection but there's still some goodstuff in here. Affordable luxury at your fingertips, so i can't really complain. I like the cropped parkas and will def get this graphic shirt above.

Papercut Magazine Spring 2012 Cover

Found this image whilst reading one of my favorite blogs Fucking Young...this is styling at its best. Love the contrast of colors and the instance where they mach (fish & hair). Absolutely brilliant...

In Lust With: Joseph Turvey AW12 Collection

After i watched the video of the Joseph Turvey AW12 show, the towering figure of the designer who sort of dwarfs the two male models who came out with him is stuck in my head. I try to link a couple of images or other sensory perceptions to give it some sense then something clicks. That towering image sort of reflect the impact this collection had on me. I did not get a chance to see all the mens show but i've read all the reviews and watched all the shows and of all of them, Joseph Turvey and 3 other labels are the ones that i recollect best.

My London Fashion Week Day 1 Look via lelook.eu

My outfit for the day shot by lelook.eu had to be school ready as most of you might not know that I'm currently in Grad school studying for a business degree, so there's no way i would have gone to school looking like an alien eccentric enough for fashion week. Peek closer shots after the jump as well more details on my outfit.

Details: Martine Rose AW12 Collection

If you get past the models faces being disguised with hair and focus on the clothing you would trace airforce/military inspiration. Utility pockets highlight the jacket sleeves just as we saw at Ozwald Boateng (two's a trend). Orange seems to be the stand out color for the collection too and one of the other interesting aspects was the Martine Rose for CAT boots.  I would def buy one of em when they are available for retail if they fall under my £150 price cap for shoes.

Technology Meets Fashion: Suit Up , The Iphone App That Makes You Natty

Technology and internet these days is mostly mobile and most of you would agree with me that you read, tweet, tumble blog and go about most of your social media perambulating online via you your mobile phones. It's only right that for those of us who need style tips at our finger tips, have them exactly at our fingertips and truly mobile, hence the use of this Suit Up app created by Kyle Sanderson.. I've not tested it yet for efficiency, but i will soon and report back to you guys. It's currently available for sale but i've got you guys a promo code you can see to download it for free. (Note this only lasts for a limited time). See more deets after the jump.

Dispair London SS12 Footwear

These bad guys are summer ready and with the recent sunshine we've been witnessing in London the past couple of days, investing in these bad guys might not be such a bad idea. Not sure bouts their retail price but anything with a fringe and a tassel that's supposed to be worn on the feet works for me. Peep the brogues after the jump. Another interesting feature i noticed is the contrast inner lining. According to the press release the brand was inspired by the trendy streets of spitafileds.

Details: Ozwald Boateng Autumn/Winter 12 Collection

I had to hop into the back of them bicycle driven touristy carriages on Oxford street to Savile Row for Ozwald Boateng show as i was running late. Even though i swore i wasn't going to do any of the touristy things in London like taking photos with Big Ben in the background, going on the London eye or generally taking photos in malls, riding the carriage felt refreshing. I got in just in time to capture the collection with my iPhone after which i filtered feverishly and shared via Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook.  For autumn Winter 12 the label drew its inspiration from the Japanese culture combining British hunting attire with aspects of Japanese aesthetic. There was a hybrid jacket, which was a fusion between a tailored jacket and a baseball one, adding utility pockets to the sleeves for effect. If i were to describe the collection in 2 words they would be 'Sportswear Chic'. Peep more details from the collection after the jump.

Underground for Mugler Men's Creepers

I recently spent £399 on some studded shoes by Sturlini I'd been ogling at for a couple of weeks at Selfridges but that's probably the last time i'd go past the £150 personal cap i set for shoes. These babies cost £375 and honestly they are worth every penny if it's withing your budget. The multicolored one (find em after the jump) is very cool too, I'd buy that if i had to buy one.

The Masafumi Watanabe for Converse Jack Purcell Johnny Sneakers

Founder of the influential label Bedwin and the Heartbreakers, Watanabe is one of Japan’s most influential designers and an innovator of a contemporary, tailored, street-wear aesthetic. His fresh take on classic American apparel, makes his collaboration using the iconic Jack Purcell Johnny shoe a natural fit. Its all brown but in different tones...by far the most alluring feature of these beauties. Converse has been on a roll with these collaborations, i especially love the collaboration with Gorillaz.

Streetstyle LFW: Model Harry Uzoka via Dash Magazine

I met photographer Ellie Tsatsou who shot Harry during LFW and she's incredible you should all check out her work HERE. Harry Uzoka is set to be one of my fav models this year. Love his casual chic look, i would be lost on how to pair purple Nike blazers with my outfit but he pulled this off with finesse. Look out for my interview with him sometime next week.
