Video: Mr Benn for MR PORTER

Originally a book published in 1967, Mr Benn was created by Mr David McKee, the writer and illustrator behind bestselling series including Elmer the Patchwork Elephant and King Rollo. His animated, bowler-hatted adventures - which always began through a magic door in the changing room of his local costume hire shop - have entranced children and adults for decades: one reason it was voted the sixth most popular children's TV programme in a Channel 4 poll.

This Christmas, MR PORTER is delighted to present a special festive episode of Mr Benn, put together by all of the original Mr Benn team, using some of the original 40 year old artwork.

Why Mr Benn? Because Mr Benn represents many of the qualities we admire at MR PORTER: he has a smart signature style, immense charm, good manners and an extraordinary sense of adventure. And, like us, his name is always preceded by the title "Mr".

River Island Men's Spring Summer 2014 Lookbook

The River Island mens ss14 collection looks like a flower bomb was let loose within it, imploding and filling the the pieces with vibrant colors and floral patterns. There's an infusion of animal skin with a baseball jacket aptly called 'Asap Jacket' probably inspired by ASAP ROCKY and loads of sports elements and trappings. One of my favorite bits from the collection is the re-adapted forest green camo and also the reversible technicolor bomber.

BALENCIAGA ARENA CREASED-LEATHER LOW TOP SNEAKERS

Dealing with a lot of shoe porn today. Just after my review on the premium leather Asos Black low tops i went on Mr Porter and decided to his the 'New In' tab and i was harassed by these Balenciaga Arena's. Priced not too high for those who want to buy into the label and at the same time not too low to lose its 'designer' status, these would fork you £325.

Asos 'Black' Leather Low Top Sneakers

I'm not the biggest fan of sneakers from non traditional footwear makers whether high end or street but these red soled goodness from Asos are making are whetting my appetite. Asos claims its 'real leather' -which frankly looks like real leather to me from the images- although just 70% of the shoes, 30% other materials used for lining and the sole make up.

The aesthetic elements like the side zip - even though it remains only an aesthetic as it does not function- and the cuff grips add a bit of a premium feel to the sneakers. The red soles, not to be confused for Louboutins, certainly scream premium too. Loads of people might think they are a close replica of a 'certain high end' sneaker but i just think maybe a lil inspiration was pulled from there by Asos's design team. Retails for £50

27 Year Old Canadian Nolan Funk Brings Sexy Back to Versace

Canadian actor Nolan Funk most popular for his role in Musical comedy Glee is the face of Versace's Spring Summer 2014 campaign. Photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, the campaign features the actor as the embodiment of the Versace Man: provocative, rebellious, sharp and sexy.

Honestly i was in shock when i first received this images of shirtless Mr Funk. If anything it motivated me to hit the gym harder today. Got to give Versace thumbs up for finding a star that's got that Versace vibe.

Lavenham x Disturbing London Launch Jacket Featuring New Quilt Pattern

Lavenham Jackets have collaborated Disturbing London , the label fronted by sartorial ambassador Tinie Tempah to create a limited edition jacket. The London based label worked with Lavenham's artisan quilters to create a new quilt pattern inspired by London. The quilt pattern looks a lot like the London underground logo which might have been a nostalgic twist for the label whose owners drive around London in sports cars and were probably last on an underground train years ago.

Available now for £249.95 :)

ASOS BLACK IS BACK...IN STYLE

Asos Black for fall winter 13 is looking all checked and sporty. This is one of my fav Asos Black collections till date, hence the title. There's a boyish charm to the pieces and they are bang on trend as always. Asos applies the dip dye technique to its tartan check, which in my opinion separates it from the hoards of tartan checks out there.

The accessories also look good. There's a 5 panel hat which looks perforated... not sure how this works for fall but maybe upon closer look it might just be a perforation print. There's the all leather Balenciaga-esque high tops which look premium in the photos. Continuing on the leather goods, i gotta say i really love the backpack which retails for £35.  Again this backpack looks like something you would have to fork over £60 for if it was slapped with say an Eastpak or Jansport label. There's another backpack in the collection which i'm not a fan of, but you might want to peep it here, also retails for £35.
Moving on from leather goods to apparel, more particularly the grey suit bottoms -made with 100% polyamide on the outside and a 100% polyester lining- which come with matching two tone suit jacket, make a not only a visual delight but a worthy wardrobe investment. The suit jacket would fork you £100, which honestly i think is a tad high but the feeling and approval nods you would get when you wear this suit should override it's somewhat steep price.

In all, solid solid collection from Asos.
